The Freak Circus
By Garula/Neko Bueno
The Circus of Horrors has arrived in town. Uncover its secrets and face the terror it hides, all while being led by Pierrot, the silent yandere, or Harlequin, his GROSS seductive rival. Don't be fooled by their smiles, they're not what they seem. You work at a cafe, and one day, on your way to work, fate leads you to cross paths with Pierrot. That's when his obsession begins. But he's not alone, his stage rival decides to join the game, turning this twisted dance into a dangerous competition, all for you.

Pierrot

Oh I love him more than I should. He's a yandere clown about 20 times my age that frequently breaks into the main character's home to watch them sleep, can drug them depending on your choices, and has been through some shit to say the least. But it's okay because he means the world to me and I have this plush of him that I've kissed too many times to deny and has unironically somehow helped me through part of my mental issues. You know when being affectionate with a mentally ill clown is what helps that there's something severely wrong.

I think at least part of what I find appealing about this thing is that he is devoted and there is nothing that could change that. It's probably another sign that there's something severely wrong with me, that I find his obsession comforting as a sign of security. That it was so easily won is the only bit that concerns me, really. He's intense in his own right, but he would still respect you. Unlike someone, whose just an evil tease that should be put on a list. The fate that his past lover met isn't necessarily promising, but that's where at least a part of his overprotective nature comes from, I think; he's trying to prevent the loss of his lover again, especially by the hands of Harlequin. That's another reason why I sympathise with Pierrot's behaviour towards Harlequin. I think he has every right to be afraid of what might happen to the main char if he lets you out of his sight and into his.

Harlequin

Oh I hate him more than I should. My favourite interpretation of his character is that he perpeturates his role as a 'villain' of sorts because being the scapegoat and having the negative attention that the rest of the circus permeates is easier and hurts less than trying to win genuine love. After all, "Is your hate on me?". A lot of the things I say, at least in regards to Harlequin, are based on the theories and analysis of Jaded Jesters on Tumblr, so check out her stuff, she does much better at talking about these than me.

I hate that I hate him, primarily because I sympathise with this interpretation of him, but also because to an extent, that's what he wants. He loves the chase, the fight, the rivalry. But in saying that, this Green Goblin should be on a list. There's a part of me that's curious what he's like once you get past the performance and convince him that the love is genuine and that it's not a game anymore, but another part of me wants a restraining order. He's a very polarising character and I think that's the point. I feel bad calling him an evil tease, because there's so much more to him than that, hence I take the time to write a whole section on him.

You'll find that when it comes to this character, he's the one I hate the most, but also the one I find the most interesting. Yeah, Pierrot is my dearest husband that nobody could pull out of my cold dead hands, but he's so vulnerable, which I love, but when Harlequin is as closed off as he is, it leaves so much more to desire. Harlequin has definitely grown on me a lot
